Description
A comforting classic featuring tender sliced beef, caramelized onions, and gooey provolone cheese, perfect for family dinners or casual gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 lbs partially frozen bottom round roast
- 1 onion (thinly sliced)
- 6 footlong bread rolls
- 10 slices provolone cheese
- 1/2 Tbsp baking soda
- 2 Tbsp vinegar
- 1 Tbsp sugar
- 1 Tbsp garlic salt
- 1/2 Tbsp onion powder
- 2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 cups water
- 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
Instructions
- Prep the Beef: Begin by taking your partially frozen bottom round roast and slicing it thinly against the grain.
- Sauté the Onions: In a large skillet over medium heat, add a drizzle of olive oil and toss in the sliced onion. Sauté until they become soft and golden—about 5-7 minutes.
- Cook the Beef: Add the sliced beef to the skillet along with the baking soda, vinegar, sugar, garlic salt, onion powder, black pepper, and salt. Stir well to combine.
- Add Water and Worcestershire Sauce: Pour in the 2 cups of water and 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce, stirring to combine. Let the beef simmer for about 10-15 minutes.
- Melt the Cheese: Once the beef is tender, add the provolone cheese and cover the skillet with a lid to allow it to melt.
- Assemble the Sandwiches: Slice the footlong bread rolls lengthwise and fill each with a generous helping of the cheesy beef mixture.
- Serve and Enjoy: Serve your Philly Cheesesteaks warm, and enjoy every gooey, savory bite!
Notes
