- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 can black beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 can diced tomatoes
- 1 can tomato sauce
- 1 cup vegetable broth
- 2 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tbsp cumin
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional toppings: sour cream, shredded cheese, green onions
Instructions
- Brown the ground beef over medium heat until it’s nicely browned and crumbled. Drain any excess fat to keep it lean.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the pot. Sauté until the onion becomes translucent.
- Stir in the kidney beans, black beans, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, and vegetable broth.
- Season your chili with chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper, mixing everything thoroughly.
- Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Reduce heat to low and let it cook for about 30-40 minutes.
- Serve hot with optional toppings like sour cream, shredded cheese, or green onions.
Notes
This chili tastes even better the next day! Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
