- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 bay leaf
Instructions
- Start by cutting the beef round steak into serving pieces and gently pound them with a meat mallet to tenderize.
- Dredge the meat pieces in flour, making sure to shake off any excess.
- In a large skillet, heat the oil over medium heat and carefully brown the meat on both sides until golden.
- Once browned, remove the meat from the skillet and set it aside.
- Add the chopped onion to the same skillet and sauté until translucent.
- Stir in the diced tomatoes, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper, whisking to combine.
- Return the browned meat to the skillet and toss in the bay leaf.
- Cover the skillet and let it simmer on low heat for about 90 to 120 minutes.
- When ready to serve, dish up the steak hot with the gravy over a bed of creamy mashed potatoes or fluffy rice.
