Description

Delicious candied jalapeños that are sweet, spicy, and perfect as a topping or snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups jalapeño slices
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon ginger

Instructions

  1. Start by preparing your jars and lids. Sterilize them in boiling water to ensure your Cowboy Candy lasts.
  2. In a saucepan, combine the sugar, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder, turmeric, and ginger.
  3. Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring gently to dissolve the sugar.
  4. Add the sliced jalapeños to the boiling syrup and boil for 4-5 minutes until tender.
  5. Carefully fill the sterilized jars with jalapeños and pour syrup over the top, leaving 1/4 inch headspace.
  6. Wipe the rims clean, seal with lids, and process in a water bath canner for 10-15 minutes.
  7. Allow the jars to cool completely before storing in a cool, dark place.

Notes

Use gloves when slicing jalapeños to avoid skin irritation. Store sealed jars in a cool, dark place for maximum shelf life.
