Description

Delightful, homey cinnamon rolls filled with buttery goodness and topped with rich cream cheese icing, perfect for breakfast or brunch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, browned
  • 1 cup cream cheese
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Heat the milk and 1/4 cup of butter until warm. Add the yeast and let it sit for 5 minutes.
  2. Combine the flour, granulated sugar, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Add the yeast mixture and the egg to the flour mixture, mixing until a shaggy dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
  6. Roll out the dough into a rectangle approximately 1/4 inch thick and spread the browned butter over it.
  7. Mix together the brown sugar and ground cinnamon, then sprinkle it over the dough.
  8. Roll the dough tightly from the long side into a log and cut it into 12 equal rolls.
  9. Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, cover them, and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  10. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the rolls for about 25 minutes.
  11. Mix together the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth and creamy.
  12. Spread the icing over the warm rolls and serve.

Notes

Use dental floss to cut the rolls for a clean cut. These rolls are great for customizing with different ingredients!
