- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, browned
- 1 cup cream cheese
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Heat the milk and 1/4 cup of butter until warm. Add the yeast and let it sit for 5 minutes.
- Combine the flour, granulated sugar, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
- Add the yeast mixture and the egg to the flour mixture, mixing until a shaggy dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle approximately 1/4 inch thick and spread the browned butter over it.
- Mix together the brown sugar and ground cinnamon, then sprinkle it over the dough.
- Roll the dough tightly from the long side into a log and cut it into 12 equal rolls.
- Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, cover them, and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the rolls for about 25 minutes.
- Mix together the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth and creamy.
- Spread the icing over the warm rolls and serve.
Notes
Use dental floss to cut the rolls for a clean cut. These rolls are great for customizing with different ingredients!
