Description

A comforting and creamy butter rice dish perfect for any occasion, quick to prepare and versatile as a side.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 1/2 medium yellow onion (finely diced)
  • 1 1/2 cups long grain white rice
  • 3 cups chicken stock or vegetable broth
  • Salt & pepper (to taste)
  • 23 bay leaves

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a large saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Sauté the diced onion for about 5-6 minutes, until translucent.
  3. Stir in the rice, coating it in the butter and onion mixture.
  4. Pour in the chicken stock and season with salt and pepper. Add the bay leaves.
  5. Cover the pan, bring it to a boil, then reduce to low heat, cooking for about 15 minutes.
  6. Turn off the heat and let the rice steam on the hot burner for an additional 10 minutes.
  7. Fluff the rice with a fork, remembering to remove bay leaves before serving.

Try adding fresh herbs, lemon juice, or cheese for a customized flavor.
